ECONOMICS STUDENTS MEET THE RESERVE BANK GOVERNOR - PHILLIP LOWE
On Tuesday 21 May 6 Economics students were selected to attend the ESA Morgans Business Lunch at the Hilton Hotel where Phillip Lowe, the Governor of Reserve Bank of Australia gave the keynote speech. The students enjoyed a 2-course meal and an enlightening presentation on the outlook for the Australian economy and some insights into the future directions for monetary policy. The Q&A session after the speech was very interesting as audience members and journalists were trying to understand the impact of the election result and what levers the RBA and the government can use to stimulate the economy. The Governor was impressed to see our students at the lunch and asked to meet them afterwards. He was very generous with his time and was particularly interested in encouraging students to study Economics.
