Application for Enrolment – International Students

Overseas students applying for enrolment at Marist College Ashgrove

are required to supply the College with a certified true copy of school reports from the previous two years together with an explanation of reporting standards and procedures applied at the student’s current or most recent school, translated into the English language, demonstrating satisfactory levels of academic achievement in all key learning areas, English language skills appropriate to the registered course being offered and age appropriateness for the year level applied for.

Marist College Ashgrove staff will check all documented student qualifications (including English proficiency) for authenticity, being original copies of documentation or suitably certified original copies.

All students enrolling must be able to demonstrate (via previous school reports over two years) that they have achieved a pass (equivalent to a C grade) over all subjects. Exceptions to this standard will be made only where an Individual Education Plan (IEP) has been requested by the parents and approved by the College. Such IEPs may carry additional course costs which will be discussed with each family prior to offering a place at the College.

Marist College Ashgrove will consider enrolment applications from students wishing to apply for a student visa, subject to compliance with conditions set by the College, including the approved entry requirements and with legislative requirements of the State of Queensland and the Commonwealth of Australia and including any requirements to undertake extra tuition to learn English to meet the English language proficiency standard needed to enter the course and mainstream classes.

Course selection and counselling prior to entry

Head of Teaching and Learning, Head of Counselling and Careers and EAL Support Staff are available to assist overseas students with the selection of suitable subjects and courses.

College staff may offer advice to students by assessing their individual needs and ability and matching these with the educational outcomes for the available subjects and courses. The College sets and expects high standards in its academic programs.
