AFL - Primary

AFL is played in the Primary School (Years 5 and 6), with students competing in the AIC competition.

AFL at Marist College Ashgrove has established itself as a popular sport in the Summer season for our Primary School students.

What are the benefits?

AFL is an exciting, fast paced game that requires great strength and aerobic capacity. Each boy is taught the foundation skills of the game, such as technique and team work, and is designed as a safe and fun activity to suit the physical capability and endurance of youngsters.

Who can participate?

All students from Years 5 and 6 are able to participate.

When is it held?

Marist College Ashgrove competes in the AIC AFL competition in Term 1. All matches are played on Saturday mornings at the Yeronga South Brisbane Football Club, with the season lasting for 7 weeks.

Uniform requirements

All students who represent the College at AFL are required to wear the College sports shorts, College bumble bee AFL jersey, a mouthguard and appropriate footwear.

Who are our coaches?

A team of dedicated coaches comprised of teaching staff and Old Boys facilitate the process of development under the guidance of the Head of Sports.
