Marist College Ashgrove competes in the AIC chess competition during Term 2. This competition involves 7 teams; 2 from Primary and 5 from Senior. The team has been very competitive over the last few years, holding the aggregate trophy since 2012.   The chess team trains during Terms 1 and 2 with external and internal coaches assisting in preparing the boys for the AIC season. Primary chess is run every Friday in the junior school for all who are interested.  The College holds an inter-house chess competition and also participates in invitational competitions throughout the year.
