Sous Chef
Marist College Ashgrove is a Catholic day and boarding school for boys in Years 5-12, situated in Brisbane's inner Northern suburbs. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, creative and highly motivated Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef in leading the existing College Kitchen team forward in 2019 to create a quality seasonal menu. This is a full time, 3 year contract. The successful candidate will be required to work a 7 day roster including Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner services as well as College and external functions. As a dynamic Sous Chef, you will also assist in training and mentoring your team as they progress with your in-depth training and expertise.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Trade qualified:Certificate III in Commercial Cookery with minimum 3 years in a similar role;
- Pastry Experience;
- HAACP knowledge;
- Strong communication and leadership skills;
- Ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume environment;
- The ability to work quickly, whilst remaining calm and courteous under pressure;
- Highly developed planning skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet deadlines;
- A collaborative, team-oriented and flexible approach to work;
- High level of confidentiality regarding student information.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children) or be eligible to apply for a Blue Card;
- A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery;
- Professional experience of 3 to 5 years in a similar role;
- Food Safety Certificate;
- Strong communication and leadership skills with demonstrated track record of leading, motivating and delivering team objectives;
In return you will receive an attractive salary of $65 000 pa with the opportunity of an increase after your initial 6 month period.
