Since 1940, dedicated Marist educators, brothers and lay people together have worked at the College to fulfill the dreams of St. Marcellin Champagnat.
St. Marcellin was a man with outstanding qualities of compassion towards young people. He has been characterized as one possessing a strong mind and a gentle heart. Marist educators strive to build young men at Marist College Ashgrove who are likewise endowed and able to respond to the message of Jesus Christ with faith and generosity. To be most effective all Marists have recourse to Mary the mother of Jesus.
This Marial aspect of our spirituality provides the inspiration for all educational endeavours at the College. Thus inspired, the College is able to meet the needs of a wide range of young men and their families.
Bringing a sense of hope to a sometimes troubled world was a major goal for St. Marcellin in 19 Century rural France. The times may differ but the needs are the same for us in the 21st Century.
Together we face the future with audacity and hope. Together we shape the lives of the young men in our care to be like St. Marcellin men of strong character, gentle hearts and able to make a positive contribution in our Church and our world.
