| OVERVIEW
The College strives to support each student to develop his potential in a climate of love, trust & mutual respect.
In doing this, the College follows the central belief of St. Marcellin Champagnat (the founder of the Marist Brothers) that 'to bring up children properly, we must love them, and love them all equally' (Life of Joseph Benedict Marcellin Champagnat, Marist Brothers, Rome, ed. 1989). |

MIDDLE SCHOOL STRUCTURE
Students study in a vertical modular system across the nine Key Learning Areas across the six semesters - Semesters 1 & 2 (Year 8), 3 & 4 (Year 9), 5 & 6 (Year 10). In all modules, the emphasis is on problem solving, with many modules moving towards an integrated approach to learning.
The Middle School academic program consists of two components:
(1) In Semesters 1 & 2 students complete a Foundation Course
(2) In Semesters 3 & 6 students choose from a wide range of modules across the nine key learning areas
Support is provided to assist students with their studies. Students are guided by their Heads of House, their tutors, their boarding supervisors, their Heads of Key Learning Areas & their teachers. Two counsellors are also available to support students.
LIFELONG LEARNING
All modules are developed from & in response to the Queensland Study Authority's P-10 syllabuses. These syllabuses have as their focus the qualities of the lifelong learner:
• a knowledgeable person with deep understanding
• a complex thinker
• an active investigator
• a responsive creator
• an effective communicator
• a participant in an interdependent world
• a reflective & self-directed learner
PARENT CONTACT
Each year group has a parent-teacher afternoon & evening to discuss your son's progress. Teacher-Parent interviews are welcome at any time.
Parents of boarders are welcome to visit the College whenever they visit Brisbane.
STUDENT SELF-REGULATION
Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions from the beginning of Semester One. The College has established a Responsible Thinking Process that supports students in this self-regulation.
