OVERVIEW
The Marist College Ashgrove Junior School caters for approximately 300 boys across years five, six and seven.
In accord with the teachings of Marcellin Champagnat, the Junior School aims to foster the growth of each student to his full potential through the provision of a wide variety of opportunities. We value learning, good scholarship, independence in thought and action, and the development of responsibility for one’s own growth and formation.
The school is committed to providing an education that empowers our students. This is achieved through the provision of a broad curriculum incorporating all the Key Learning Areas. It is delivered by a competent and enthusiastic staff and incorporates teaching strategies that provide for a variety of learning styles.
Religious Education is a high priority in the Junior Curriculum. Parental involvement in this area is welcomed, encouraged and valued. Prayer and liturgy are an integral part of this program, with daily prayer in the classrooms and regular opportunities for the boys to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to attend Mass. Pastoral care is also an important part of our school and is made explicit in our dealings with students, staff and parents.
Our staff are professional, competent and enthusiastic. Their dedication ensures that the educational opportunities offered are of a high standard and go a long way to meeting the needs of our students. As well as classroom teachers, the staff includes specialist Music, French, and Health and Physical Education teachers, a Teacher Librarian and Learning Support Teacher.
