OBJECTIVE?

The L.E.C. provides:-
(a) Support in:-
* Written Expression, Reading, Spelling, Punctuation, Comprehension, Vocabulary Development, Handwriting
* Mathematics
* Assignment Writing
* Exam Preparation
* Study Skills
(b) Participation in Tournament of Minds Competition
(c) Extra Time in Exams
(d) Reader/Scribe for Exams
(e) A Learning Assistance Program involving volunteer Tutors
(f) Specific Modules in Mathematics and English in the Junior Secondary School |

WHO?
The personnel working in the L.E.C. include two full-time Learning Support Teachers, a part-time E.S.L. Teacher, a Teacher working on a part-time basis and a Tutor working on a part-time basis. There are approximately thirty volunteer Tutors who are involved in the Learning Assistance Program.
PATHWAYS
A variety of diagnostic assessments is carried out in assisting the Staff to structure support that is student-specific. The Learning Enrichment Modules in Mathematics and English are designed to provide a meaningful pathway for students in the Junior Secondary section of the College. These Modules assist the students in preparing for the Applied Vocational Studies Course in Years Eleven and Twelve.
If they so choose, students studying the Learning Enrichment Modules are not precluded from studying Maths A or Board English in Years Eleven and Twelve.
WHAT
The Learning Enrichment Centre offers assistance to the Senior students in English, Trade and Business Maths, Assignment Writing and Spoken Presentations. Assistance is also given in Handwriting, Written Expression, Spelling, Mathematics and Study skills. Supervision for Extra Time in Exams and Scribes/Readers for Exams are provided for those students who meet the Board of Secondary School Studies criteria for Special Consideration.
ACCESS
Teachers and students across all Key Learning Areas have access to the assistance provided by the personnel in the L.E.C. The College Counsellor plays an intrinsic role in the Learning Enrichment Centre in enabling these exceptional students to maximize their potential.
